The Serbian Ministry responsible for environment initiated this programme to develop a pipeline for environmental infrastructure project proposals. The Republic of Serbia is, potentially, on the brink of enormous investment to improve environmental standards through the EU accession and membership process. To turn those improvements into reality requires the preparation of a continuous stream of high quality, relevant and mature project proposals.

IMG and Sida are supporting the Department of Project Management within the Ministry responsible for environmental to plan for major projects in solid municipal waste, waste water and remediation across Serbia.
The programme’s overall objective is that the Department has the capability and tools to oversee the programming and implementation of at least €40m of environment infrastructure projects each year of accreditation and be ready for much larger EU structural funds on accession.
This institutional change programme is being implemented by building the skills and experience of the DPM team, developing tools like the web-based project pipeline to structure the project information and investing in expertise and small projects that can overcome obstacles and unlock far larger projects.
